Shiny Black Ellips Hair Vitamin

For those who have hung out here on MSCHFF long enough would have known how much I've raved about the Shiny & Smooth Ellips Hair Vitamin since the beginning of this blog.

I loved that they are in portion control and also works really well for frizzy hair.

Not too long ago I saw the Shiny Black version on the shelf of Mustafa Center and just had to get it to try! (P.S I know this product has been on shelves for a few years and the black one was already available.) Been searching for ages for the black hair vitamins for awhile as not all stores carry these versions.

This sample pack of 6 'blisters' or capsules as I like to call it retailed at SGD1.50 at Mustafa Center. If you guys wish to give this a try and are in Singapore, go grab yours there!

Anyway, back to this product. Since I have black hair, this special formulation targeted towards people with black hair interested me to give it a try and compare it with my favourite yellow version of it.

Shiny Black – Formulated with Candle Nut & Aloe Vera Oil, Vit A, C, E & Pro Vit B 5 help nourish & protect hair from sunray and help nurture the healthy shine of your black hair.

The ingredients are:

CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CYCLOTRASILOXANE, DIMETHICONOL PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, FRAGRANCE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, SOYBEAN OIL (GLYCINE SOJA), ASCORBYL, PALMITATE, RETINYL, PALMITATE, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF OIL, ALEURITES MOLUCCANA SEED OIL, POLYSILICONE-15, PANTHENYL ETHYL, ETHER, ARGANIA SPINOSA OIL

The only difference I see in the formulation in comparison to the yellow verion is the additional Kemiri Oil or Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil in the ingredients. Kemiri oil is basically Candlenut oil in Indonesia or also known as Kukui in other parts of the world. This ingredient is no stranger to the haircare world and it's said to promote hair growth and nurture the scalp.

This oil just adds more benefits to the hair serum of this product as it is already infused with Aloe and Argan oil. Both very beneficial oils for hair growth and conditioning properties as well.

This product also contains silicone based ingredients, likewise in many other successful frizz-control hair products that also contain similar silicone properties. So if any of you who are looking at silicone-free serums, sadly, this isn't one of them.

However, I can honestly say that I think that this Shiny Black Hair Vitamin works slightly better than its' yellow counterpart. Maybe because I have black hair and the additional ingredient just works a little better. My hair feels softer and more shinier after the application as well as hours after the application. The scent has a slight difference but it isn't drastic from the yellow ones.

Overall, I think the black one is a good alternative if you have black hair like I do. Downside of this product is that it's hard to get in stores. It's target audience in Singapore for naturally black hair version probably isn't a lot as many dye their hair and would require different properties to suit their hair needs. (Disclaimer: Shiny black is not recommended for black box dyed hair. You may wish to use Nutri Colour/Purple version)

I would give this 3.5 out of 5 Juices. Just the difficulty to get the product in stores marked it down a lot.

Till next time. Don't stop the MSCHFF!

xoxo
