If you got as confused at the product ingredients as I did when it says sulfate-free. I took the liberty to search on what Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate and Disodium Laureth Sulfoccinate is as it looks very similar to the more commonly found ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
"Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) - A great alternative to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This product is derived from coconut and palm oils, and conforms to Ecocert's natural and organic cosmetic standard and is 100% of natural origin. This fine white powder is excellent for blending into "bath bombs," bath fizzees, powdered bubble baths, bath salts for super foam, scrubs and more. Makes a blanket of bubbles that last! Long lasting SLSA powder provides excellent foam and viscosity response."excerpted from bramblebetty.com
How about Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate? Well that is also sulfate free. Why? See this explanation below.
"Disodium laureth sulfosuccinate is a chemical found in hair and skin products. You can even buy it on Amazon as a raw material. Quite simply, it’s a de-greasing, emulsifier, and foaming agent used in many shampoos and other cleaning products much like SLS and SLES. It’s not an organic substance, but it’s also not like other chemicals either. It’s highly water soluble and can be added to any formula with no reconstruction of the compounds. Since it’s not sulfated in production, it will be free of sulfates (the salt of sulfuric acid which is potentially harmful to the skin)." excerpted from slsfree.net.
So hopefully that cleared up some queries about this product being sulfate-free. So lets get on with how the product worked on my hair!
The Application
I would say that the whole set was relatively easy to apply and did smell delicious, imagine vanilla and coconut. The consistency of the shampoo was more of a runnier texture. However even with the runny texture, it lathers very smooth and the promise of tiny champagne bubbles did not disappoint (though when they said bubbles...i was expecting a fizz). It really felt luxurious lathering it on my hair and it cleaned off really fast and easy.
The conditioner is thick and smells similar to the shampoo. It applied to my hair very smooth, gliding so easily and evenly. Honestly I wasn't expecting less as this should glide on like butter. Definitely did not disappoint either. You could tell from my bathroom antics in the video that I was feeling myself with the use of this luxury shampoo and conditioner. I was having so much fun just washing my hair!
Lastly I applied the masque which I hesitated to apply as I was trying to possibly save it for another hairwash, but then I thought to myself, "I won't have anymore of the expensive shampoo!" Hence I applied it and wrapped my hair in a cotton shirt to rest for 5mins. It did say I could Leave it overnight if I wanted to. Tempted as that sounds to reap all the benefits of this shampoo, I decided against it. I washed it off after 5mins and let my hair air-dry completely after.
Summary
Juice Box Rating:
1. Moisturising 4/5
I didn't have to apply my favourite hair serum after the hairwash as it did manage my frizz to a certain extent. Even being out in to the mall with my hair loose it was really tame and has the right amount of volume to it. Of course it didn't last very long of course. Not everything does. so at 48hr, there was more frizzing.
2. Affordability 3/5 (it's kind of expensive, but I would repurchase the full sized item if i felt like splurging)
3. Endurance in Humidity 4/5
4. Efficacy 5/5
Average Juice Box Rating: 4/5
This scores really high on the JB rating as it managed to reduce my frizz by keeping my curls hydrated and worked really well! The scent of it is so yum too! Would I recommend purchasing this shampoo for us frizzies out there? Yes and no. Why yes? It really was an easy fuzz free product that not only smells good, but works really well. Why no? Because it's expensive, if you have the means to splurge on this haircare, then why not.
