I've been hunting for a lot of haircare products around Sephora lately and definitely you know when Sephora brings it, they expect some form of top quality for it to be able to sell on shelves and online. Personally I like it when I can purchase the items without heading to the physical store because I get cashback via online purchases and of course, I kind of dislike being in a crowded space if I don't have any purpose to be there.

One of the few items I brought from Sephora's Housebrand is their Sleeping mask. I wanted to get the Coconut and the Rose Hair Sleeping Mask, sadly the Coconut version of the Sleeping Mask was out of stock. Instead I just got the Rose version instead as it was targeted for frizz prevention.

Day 1:

So my hair during the application was relatively frizzy as you can see from the picture.

I dread hair washing days because it takes ages for my hair to dry whenever I have early working hours, ending up with me having wet and damp hair even after hours of work because it has to be tied up and away.

First of all, the sleeping mask consists of a Charlotte and a Masque creme, a fancy french way of saying Hair Cap and Hair Mask. It's packed separately. The application is just like a conditioner. Lather it evenly onto your hair, can be applied onto dry hair as well, and use a sleeping mask to leave it overnight to cure. Seems simple enough for the instructions.

I even braided it to prepare it for the overnight sleeping as I know I'm going to roll about in my sleep and the shower cap might just fall out halfway through. The cream masque smelt so fresh and wonderful. I loved getting wafts of it.

Day 2:

Surprisingly the shower cap managed to stay on half of my head while I was fast asleep and I woke up. As as you can see (along with my just woke up puffy face) that it was still intact and neat. It was time for the test to begin.

It was very easy to wash away and it didn't feel oily or greasy washing it off from my hair. I left it to airdry and skipped on putting any serum or oil onto my hair as I usually will do. I've recorded the hair progression for a series of 3 days after the application as I had a few work appointments that weekend. The order left to right, ( day 2 fully air dry, day 3 morning, day 3 night, day 4)

Summary of the product after the narcissistic selfies below.

Any problems encountered during application?

Nope. It was relatively easy and quite mess free as you apply it onto dry hair. I didn't wash my hair prior to the application as it did say onto dry hair. So that portion was unclear if I had to do it on dry clean hair or otherwise. You can see from the pictures how it went throughout the whole week of after the application.

I would say that it absorbed really well overnight and did not feel heavy or greasy during the curing process and the shower cap was sturdy enough that it did not slip out of my hair easily. I am a very rough sleeper and I toss and turn constantly while asleep. The product washed off easily with shampoo too, I would recommend using a hydrating shampoo to wash with to aid in the lasting effects of the masque.

How long it lasted?

I would definitely say that it lasted for about 4 to 5 days maximum before the effects of the masque wore off. As you can see on day 4, the hair was still looking hydrated but it was starting to look more frizzy than it was on the 3rd day. I definitely had to go and oil up my hair with my favourite serum on the 5th day to make it look shiny and new again. But by then I was already ready to wash my hair and freshen up the scalp.

2. Affordability 4/5

3. Endurance in Humidity 5/5

4. Efficacy 4/5

Average Juice Box Rating: 4.25/5

Overall this is a fun product to have tested out and would recommend it to be used 2 days prior to any event when your hair needs a pick me up. I would not recommend to use it before heat styling as it is meant to be used as a hair repairing treatment. Would I repurchase this again? Yes, during a sale. However thus far, having tested out 2 kinds of hair masks that have used the shower cap, I think it is a good method to cure your hair in a hair mask. I definitely will be implementing it with future hair mask applications if required.

Go check out my other hair mask that I used a shower cap too!
