Bangkok Trip! Part 2

Updated: Dec 18, 2020

Day 2 (Morning!): So I woke up very early in the morning since there was a 1hr time difference in time-zone and my body clock was just used to waking up at that time for work. I just hung out and watched some TV, surfed the net a little bit and stood outside the balcony to watch the sunrise. I love waking up to the sun-rise as it feels like I'm just about to start my day.

We woke up early because we wanted to head over to Pratunam Market again as there are some shops that were only opened only till late morning and we were going to check out from the hotel later at noon.

We had breakfast at this halal food stall by the alleyway.

Ordered:
- Chicken soup with rice
- Stir-fry Beef with rice
- Freshly squeezed Pommegranate Juice (the best friend loves this juice, very sweet though so just take caution)

Appx price: <$10 (2 pax)

I had a taste of the chicken soup and that was way better than my beef stir fry! Highly recommend getting soupy food if you are at BKK. They make pretty delicious soups. I was still kinda hungry after the meal since the portion was pretty small.

We checked out from the hotel and made our way via grab to the other hotel that is nearer to Chatuchak Market, since it was already near the weekend!

Look at the view!

The room was also pretty big and it had its own living room, however the place is a little inaccessible from the main road and you will have to call the hotel's designated tuk-tuk to drive you to the hotel from the main road. Pretty good service as they are available 24/7 whenever you need a ride out or in, just call their tuk-tuk!

We didn't have much of a plan for the day so we then headed out to Century The Movie Plaza, Victory Monument to grab some food and just see what we could do to kill some time. There was nothing much there, so we ended up going to watch a Thai Comedy Movie!

We were a bit confused cos they played the King's Anthem in the movie and all the other viewers stood up, so out of courtesy, not knowing what to do, we stood up along with the rest during the anthem.

A quick review of the movie! It was super hilarious! We laughed our butts off and I highly recommend watching it!

A little weird highlight of the day... we ate at KFC before the movie and there was an uncle that was collecting food scraps from other people's table when they left to combine and make a meal.

Day 2 (Evening): After the movie ended we didn't want to just he'sd back home so N suggested that we went Night Market hopping and to a nearby cat cafe we could go to!

Look at what mischievous acts one of the hyper cats did? He was so attracted to the Thai crepe cake that N ordered. he was licking the top of the cake and enjoying it when we were not looking, and even came back for seconds! We had ordered a cat treat and tried to lure her away....but she just was not interested!

She ended up getting timeout for being so naughty! She was not having it and was meowing and pleading to be let out. So many cute cats, is a must to go to if you want to pet some cats, do bring a lint roller if you have one, because you will end up with fur all over your clothes.

We then headed to Chatuchak Night Market.

Tip: Bring something cold and maybe a handheld fan as it is super warm!

N bought quite a lot of stuff for her wedding day and hen's night. We were so tired already, we just wound down in the living room over TV.

Ordered:
Ramly burger

Appx price: I forgot. heh

Paired with a kettle of mint citrus tea, it was just a nice day just enjoying and unwinding.

Day 3: Chatuchak Market! Shopping Spree!

But first, breakfast! Told you my main goal was to enjoy as much food as I want.

We ordered in breakfast via grabfood.

Ordered:
- Green curry
- Red Curry
- Spring roll
- Iced Coffee

Appx price: 590 baht ($15) 2 pax

We then headed out to the train station to get to Chatuchak Market. I don't have much pics and footage of the market.

We stopped by for lunch at a halal food stall within the market, and ordered ourselves some delicious local delicacies!

Madenah Halal Noodle Food

Ordered:
- Pad Thai
- Basil Beef
- Mango Sticky Rice
- Mango Blended Juice
- Iced Thai Milk Tea

Appx price: 600~800 baht ($15-$20) 2 pax

After doing a little more shopping and walking after the meal, we ended up heading back to the hotel at about 5 pm and started to unpack the stuff N bought to check the logistics. She bought a fair bit of clothes, bags and accessories for her business as well.

We started packing stuff away as we were going to check out of the hotel the next day. And wow did we have a lot of stuff.

Just imagine two of the luggage that is shown in the picture to your left, filled to the brim!

We had to cling wrap the entire luggage the next day to a cocoon so that the zipper will not bust out the contents while airlines toss it about during loading and unloading.

Mind you, when we reached homeland, SG and went into baggage claims, one of the luggage had the cling wrap slide off! Thank god the contents and the zipper were still intact!

Pretty useful bag though I may add!

Day 4: Checkout Day! Checkout day, was very chill in the morning, we had gone to the 7-eleven the previous night after packing up so we could just eat some Thailand Convenience Store food. We were watching Pretty Pastel Please's youtube video on convenience food in Tokyo and suddenly wanted our own convenience store breakfast!

Our flight was going to be in the evening at about 8pm, and checkout was at noon. So we would have some time to kill. We had a lot of stuff with us already and it was pretty heavy, >30kg baggage, and a trip to the airport. Yikes! N wanted to grab some stuff before we headed to the airport. it was some wooden trays that she intended to use for her wedding day. However, it would require us to head back to Chatuchak with our luggage and head to the airport from there. Oh my was it a frustrating trip!

We got dropped off at an exit that will not have any Grab car pick us up, the store N was heading to was at the opposite end of the Market, she will have to bring all the trays over (didn't know how many there were going to be).

N sent me this after her purchase. OMG another 2 bulky boxes. So we had 5 Bulky items to bring over to the airport.

So we ended up calling a grab, and the grab driver getting lost, not knowing where to find us and pick us up, the frustration of lugging 5 bulky luggage over to a landmark the driver could somehow find us at. It was a frustrating time that if I had to do all over again, I will now know how to adapt to the situation.

Tip, if you are booking a grab from Chatuchak and you are carrying a large amount of baggage with you, please ask them to pick you up near the police station. They are very familiar with that landmark and you will definitely not get lost there.

So we went to the Suvarnabhumi Airport to check-in, and unfortunately for that day, our flight got delayed for 2 hours. So we just hung around, tired and just surfing the net, napping, people-watching till our boarding gates were finally open.

Overall, I had a fun time there with N and will definitely repeat it again. She's a balance of chill and adventure at the same time! Hope you enjoyed reading through my trip to Bangkok last October 2019!
